Daily Sentence Editing

Mrs. Ryan's students know that proper grammar and sentence structure are essential to successful writing. They practice sentence editing, looking for errors in punctuation, capitalization, and verb tense, just to name a few. After they've had a chance to edit their sentences on their own, they take turns making corrections on the SmartBoard.

Class President Interviews

With having just celebrated President's Day, the OLS 5th graders interviewed their own candidates for class president.  This fun hands-on English lesson had these 3 candidates answering interview questions in the correct past tense verb.

Spooky Stories



The third graders share spooky stories that they wrote for Halloween. They turned off the lights and read them in spooky voices while holding a flashlight.  Boo!

Daily Sentence Editing


The 4th grade students have been working very hard on their grammar and punctuation skills by using Daily Sentence Editing.  The students compose sentences that are incorrectly written on the SMARTboard and then write them correctly in their notebooks. Volunteers go to the SMARTboard to "fix" the sentences.
