Last week, the 4th grade took a field trip to the Maple Sugaring at
Rockwoods Reservation! The kids saw how to tap sugar maple tree,
collect the sap, and boil it down to real maple syrup....no "Mrs.
Butterworth" syrup here!
Fun Facts: It takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of maple syrup. It takes 11 hours of boiling
to produce enough syrup for 1 gallon of syrup - - longer if the syrup is
a higher grade.
